Cape Gooseberry is a semi-acid fruit, which belongs to the berry family, native to the South American Andes. It has an ovoid shape with an average diameter of 1.2 cm and an average weight of 5 g. It is encased in a thin dark-yellow papery inedible leaf (husk/chalice), which protects the fruit from the environment.
